AOC confuses welfare with work

Democrat Ocasio-Cortez attacked President Reagan; saying that he used racist caricatures to pit:

“white working-class Americans against brown and black working-class Americans.”

Her example of that was the fact that Reagan talked about welfare queens.

“So you think about this image; welfare queens and what he was really trying to talk about was he was painting this photo, he was painting this like really resentful vision of essentially black women who were doing nothing that were ‘sucks’ on our country. And it’s this whole tragedy of the commons type of thinking where it’s like because these one, this one specific group of people, that you are already kind of subconsciously primed to resent, you give them a different reason that’s not explicit racism but still rooted in a racist caricature. It gives people a logical reason, a ‘logical’ reason to say, ‘oh yeah, no, toss out the whole social safety net.'”

The first thing to note is that Reagan never characterized welfare queens as being Black. That's something AOC has said on her own. Which is interesting because we all know that the majority of people on welfare are white.

So why would AOC assume that welfare queens are Black?  It almost sounds as if AOC is racist doesn't it?  Reagan never characterized welfare cheats as being Black but AOC is telling us that in her mind welfare queens are Black. The reality is that in this discourse AOC is revealing her own apparently deeply rooted racist stereotypes about just who is on welfare and who is defrauding the taxpayers.

The second thing to note is that people on welfare aren't working class Americans in general. Hence cutting back on welfare fraud, which is what welfare queens are about, helps all working class people including Blacks because they have to pay less in taxes.

What AOC is upset about is that Reagan championed working people who pay taxes over welfare cheats to defraud their fellow Americans.  Her example supports that; welfare queens and people who are on welfare for extended periods of time aren't working class Americans since they're not working.

Interestingly AOC herself is pitting working class Black Americans against illegals by advocating for illegals right to work for less and steal jobs from Black Americans.

The third thing to note is that Reagan himself constantly declared that we needed a safety net.  He, like all conservatives, have no problem with the government helping those who are physically or mentally incapable of helping themselves or with helping hard working people who have hit a rough patch and need a short term helping hand. Hence when AOC implies that Reagan was trying to get rid of the safety net she's either lying or speaking from a complete lack of knowledge about the issue.

Once again AOC, the new face of the Democrat party, has demonstrated things she didn't want to admit too; that she equates getting welfare with working, that she hold to racist stereotypes about Blacks, and that she has no knowledge of what Republicans stand for.
