Today we have the #FakeNews media lying about everything and as a result if a true crime were to occur we won't know whether or not to believe it.
During the Kavanaugh hearings we were told that horrible things had happened but the more we learned the more we realized that the charges were all lies.
During the March for Life we were told that a bunch of teenage boys did horrible things but within hours we learned it was all a lie.
Over the last few years there have been many fake hate crimes which are covered until they're shown to be fake and then they disappear.
This is a critical problem because if a real hate crime occurs odds are lots of people will assume it too is a lie.
We're seeing that in the Fairfax case. Democrat Lt. Governor Fairfax has been accused of sexually assaulting a college professor back in 2004. Democrats are acting all hesitant, unlike how they behaved with Kavanaugh, even though the evidence against Fairfax is far more compelling that it was against Kavanaugh.
People of no political bias are probably wondering if this is another fake news story.
But it's pretty clear that this is a case that needs to be taken seriously. Sadly that may not happen because of the media falsely accusing so many Conservatives.
Another example is the Smollet case in Chicago; the gay Black actor claims that two men assaulted him while yelling this is MAGA country. If it's true then it's a horrible crime and that's how it was reported, and still is being reported. Yet more and more evidence is coming out that tends to support the thesis that Smollet made the whole thing up.
For example:
- How likely is it that Trump supporters were wandering around in -12degree Chicago at 0100 hours with a bottle of bleach and a rope?
- Why won't Smollet share his phone with the police?
- Rumors are saying that video shows Smollet retained his sandwich after the attack
- Rumors are saying that he didn't mention to the doorman that he'd been attacked
- He's admitted that his original claim of having a broken rib is incorrect
If the media weren't a full time lying machine the new evidence wouldn't be compelling but as it is it's impossible to know with any certainty if Smollet's claim is credible. That's fine if he is making it up but it's horrible if in fact he is telling the truth.
The WaPo's mission statement is that Democracy dies in darkness and it's true that so long as the #FakeNews media will lie or report stories without bothering to vet them we the people won't be able to know what to believe and that will keep us from being good citizens.
