Democrats admit that cutting tax rates increases tax revenues.

One of the reasons cited for legalizing marijuana use in California was that the state would make a lot of money taxing it.

Unfortunately the Democrats who run the state set the tax rate so high that there's a thriving black market in "legal" marijuana.  Just like there's a thriving market for black market cigarettes in high tax locations like New York City.

What makes this all very interesting is that the Democrats are talking about cutting the tax rate to increase the total tax revenue. That's really interesting because every time Republicans talk about the fact that if you cut tax rates you stimulate the economy and hence you increase revenue because a lower rate on a larger amount of revenue can be higher than a higher rate on a lower amount of revenue Democrats say that's crazy talk.

Yet that's precisely what Democrats are moving towards doing in California.
