A Tale of Two Media's: Kavanaugh and Fairfax

You probably recall the Kavanaugh inquisition where we were told by the #FakeNews media that we had to believe Christine Blasey Ford's accusation of assault against Kavanaugh even though she couldn't remember where or when it happened and in spite of the fact that she hadn't mentioned the event to anyone until Kavanaugh became a potential Supreme Court nominee.  Oh and by the way all the people, including a close friend of hers, who Ford said would corroborate her account said that the event she described had never happened.  Last but not least there were internal inconsistencies in her story--she was too far away to walk home but when she left she didn't get a ride.

The #FakeNews media generally went with the standard #MeToo position; women never lie about this so no matter how many problems there were with her story she needed to be believed.

Pilling on Democrats like Senator Hirono  told us, supposedly men but clearly any doubting women, that we were to shut up and believe this woman because she was a woman and that was that.

When conservatives raised concerns about destroying men's lives based on uncorroborated and in fact  denied decades old claims which in Kavanaugh's case didn't even involve sex, Ford said she "escaped" and Kavanaugh did nothing to pursue her before anything serious happened, we were told that we were misogynists and that we hated women.

That's Media #1.

Back in November 2017 Vanessa Tyson approached the Washington Post saying that in 2004 Justin Fairfax assaulted her and forced her to engage in sex at the 2004 Democrat convention.  Tyson hadn't told anyone about the attack but when she saw that Fairfax had been elected Lt. Governor of Virginia she felt she shouldn't stay silent.  There were no witnesses and, as in the Kavanaugh case, there were no other such claims made against Fairfax.  As a result the WaPo decided to not run the story.

That's Media #2

I'd like to live in the Media #2 world.  When there is no pattern, and people have looked for other accusations and not found them, and no evidence to support a claim of a decades old sexual assault we should presume that the guy is innocent and not destroy his life.

I don't want to live in a world where the #FakeNews media gets to decide, based on their biases, which media they're going to be today.

The Similarities:

In both cases the women had told no one.

In both cases the it had been years, decades in the Kavanaugh case 13 years in the Fairfax case, since the event supposedly occurred

In both cases the women came forward because of the rise in importance of the alleged attacker.

In both cases there was no record of other credible complaints against the men.

The Differences:

Kavanaugh was perceived as an enemy of the Democrat agenda while Fairfax is a strong proponent of it

There were no witnesses to the Fairfax event

The "witnesses" to the Kavanaugh event all, including a long time female friend of Ford's, said that the event For described didn't happen.

Ford didn't accuse Kavanaugh of actually forcing her to do anything sexual since she "escaped" quickly.  She said she was afraid he'd rape her.

Tyson said that Fairfax forced her to engage in a sex act.

Kavanaugh is white.

Fairfax is Black.

The conclusion:

If you're a Democrat man who has a promising political future where he can help advance the Democrat agenda and bring more power to Democrats you are to be believed more than a woman.

If you're not a Democrat and you're a man it doesn't matter if the "witnesses" to the act you're accused of committing all say that your accuser is incorrect you are not be be believed because women never lie.

Bottom line: According to the #FakeNews media women only lie about harassment when they men they're accusing are Democrats.
