Immigrants do use welfare; a lot

A new analysis of the 2014 census bureau data, the latest available, shows that immigrants use welfare almost twice as much as non-immigrants.

This figure shows the numbers which are rather amazing.

63% of immigrant households use some form of welfare compared to 35% of native born Americans. This completely destroys the Left's argument that it's hypocritical for conservatives, whose parents were immigrants, to oppose essentially unlimited immigration.

When the ancestors of most Americans immigrated there were no welfare programs. They either paid their own way or depended on private charities funded voluntarily.  Modern immigrants aren't doing that. Instead the majority of them are taking money that Americans have to pay in taxes, under threat of going to jail if they won't pay their taxes.

What's worse is that this dependency doesn't go away if the immigrants are in the country for awhile. In fact for immigrants here 10 years or more the welfare usage rate is 70%.

Further while we are told that illegals don't have access to these programs that's not really true since if the illegals have an American born child that child is eligible for welfare under the current rules.

The idea that the mass of low skill non-assimilating immigrants is an economic boon to America is at least, in part, a Big Lie since the impact of all the welfare that is paid to support them is never mentioned by the #FakeNews media.

Interestingly 93% of immigrants on welfare also work. The problem is that since the Democrats have lowered the standards for legal immigrants many of them simply lack the skills to get or keep a well paying job which means that they tend to qualify for welfare. Many immigrants for example lack even a high school education.

This data is a good counter to the Big Lie being spread by the media that immigration, both legal and illegal, is good for the country.

Also keep in mind that these numbers are for legal immigrants and don't cover things like in state tuition for illegals offered by some states.

Finally it's important to recognize that we're talking about immigrants not refugees.  Clearly if someone is fleeing for their life, as the Jews who fled Nazi Germany were, then deciding whether or not to let them in is not a economic decision.  But for the vast majority of immigrants it's time we decided just how much money we should take from hard working American families to pay for welfare for immigrants.

I wrote about immigration, citing just that fact about immigrants welfare use - glad to hear that others think the same!
