Democrat Failures: California edition.

California is awash with poor people.  Despite the Democrats who have complete control of the state constantly virtue signaling their love of the poor California is the nation's leader in poverty.

While California has about 12% of the American population it has 33% of America's welfare recipients.

This is all while California is completely under the control of Democrats.

A lot of this poverty is due to the insanely high housing costs driven by Democrat policies that discourage building and artificially inflate home prices--such as the new law which will add $10K to each new house by mandating solar panels.  Poverty is also driven by the fact that energy costs in California are 50% higher than in the rest of the country--due to green insanity by the Democrats.  Energy costs are big deal, and a highly regressive virtual tax, because poor people spend a higher fraction of the money on energy than non-poor people,

So next time some leftist extolls the wonders of the Democrat "plan" for America ask them about the massive poverty in Democrat run California.
