The Post Office violated federal law to help the Clinton 2016 campaign

In 2016 lots of postal union workers took unpaid leave to help Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Don't worry their union paid their salary when they were working to help Hillary.

It's legal for workers to do that. What isn't legal is for Post Office management to pressure mangers to approve the unpaid leave when doing so left the managers organizations understaffed.

That's why the Postal Service's office of Special counsel and inspector general found that the Post office violated the Hatch Act which prohibits federal workers from working for or against a political candidate or party.

The problem wasn't that some employees took time off; that's fine so long as it doesn't impact the functioning of the Post office.

The problem was that by effectively making it mandatory that mangers had to grant leave even if it went against the best interests of the Post Office the Post Office was showing a bias for the candidates that the postal workers were supporting; all of whom were Democrats.
