Science shows the lockdowns shouldn't continue

Dr. John Ioannidis is the C.F. Rehnborg Chair in Disease Prevention at Stanford University; he's not some foaming at the mouth conservative hack.

Here's what he has to say about how lethal the China virus is:

“The death rate in a given country depends a lot on the age-structure, who are the people infected, and how they are managed,” Ioannidis said. “For people younger than 45, the infection fatality rate is almost 0%. For 45 to 70, it is probably about 0.05-0.3%. For those above 70, it escalates substantially…”

In comparison flu mortality is about 2 per 100,000 or 0.002%.  So 0.05 to 0.3% works out to between 50 and 300 people per 100,000 dying.

In the 2017 to 2018 flu season between 46 and 96 thousand people died from the flu. Which means the mortality rate was around 0.2%.

Yet we didn't stop life in America.

The reality is that the intelligent response to COVID19 is to let folks younger than 40 do as they please.

Set up "safe zones" in stores where masks and social distancing is required so that people between 40 and 70 are able to continue functioning.

If people older than 40 choose to engage in high risk behavior that's their call.

But Democrats are calling for keeping us all locked up, except for riots and Democrat protests.

Why?

Because they have no hope of getting Americans to vote for Joe, you ain't Black unless you support me, Biden if the country isn't locked down.

Democrats don't care about the rapidly rising number of suicides and drug OD; to them those deaths are justified because all that matters is Democrats getting more power to control every aspect of our lives.

With Joe Biden running on a platform of giving citizenship to illegal aliens, importing millions of workers to drive down US wages, dramatically increasing the cost of energy--which is a highly regressive tax on the poor--, increasing taxes, and returning to Obama's policy of loving China and Iran the only chance he has is if America is in a total tailspin.

That's why Democrats cry when they hear that unemployment has taken a nose dive and that the country is recovering.

Let's use science and common sense to address the China virus not the Democrat party's lust for power.
