The Left's love affair with criminals

Democrats constantly complain about there being too many people in prison and that felons-- you know murders, rapists, etc-- should be allowed to vote.

The reality is that for some reason leftists like criminals more than they like people in flyover country and Blacks.

The Washington Post's Sunday Magazine this week is dedicated to extolling the wonders of drug dealers, money launderers, and murderers.

The entire issue was written by and the photos used were taken by current or former prison inmates.

The lead article is by a woman, Piper Kerman, who was convicted of money laundering and drug trafficking.  She's an example of the ultimate in white privilege coming from a family of professionals--lawyers, educators, and doctors-- and graduated from Smith College--current cost $47K a year.

She's not some poor Black women forced into a life of crime because she lives in one of the high crime poor education neighborhoods that Democrats have created in our major cities.

Yet she whines about the fact that the prison system doesn't turn people like her into good people:

“the American criminal justice system does not solve the problems — violence, mental illness, addiction — that it claims to address.”

But that's not the purpose of the prison system. The purpose of the prison system is to keep honest citizens safe not to force people like Piper who are comfortable with hurting others in order to make money repent.  Attempting rehabilitation is fine but it's not the metric that we measure the success or the failure of the prison system by.

Unsurprisingly our "mass incarceration" culture has resulted in a meteoric drop in crime rates; ie it made honest citizens safe and made life difficult for people like Piper.

She finds that irrelevant since she, like most criminals, is usually concerned about #1 not about the people whose lives she destroys.

The man who took the pictures for her article, Thomas Bartlett Whitaker, was sentenced to death for killing his mother and his brother but that was commuted to life imprisonment.  Does anyone think his being in prison is an example of "over incarceration"?

Maybe Piper does.

In any case unless it can be shown that there are lots of innocent people in prison, which isn't the case, then what Leftists are arguing is that it should be ok to be a criminal who preys on the weak and innocent members of society.

We see this in California where stealing items that cost less than $950 has been effectively decriminalized.

While it's obvious that keeping criminals in jail helps protect honest citizens you may be wondering how leftist support for releasing criminals shows that leftists don't like Blacks.

The answer is simple; the vast majority of the victims of Black criminals are other Blacks. Hence releasing Blacks from jail simply because there are proportionately more Blacks in jail than whites hurts Blacks and leaves the white leftists who support it untouched.

We know that Blacks are more likely to commit crimes than white people because their Black victims identify their attackers as Black.

Oddly the same leftists who declare that any disparity in the percentage of Blacks in prison is obvious evidence of racism see no racism in the fact that Black women are 3 times as likely to abort as white women or that Blacks are 6 times more likely to be homeless in San Francisco than whites.

While it would be interesting to see why leftists are so fond of criminals the reality is that it doesn't matter. What matters is that leftists are working hard to release the wolves on we the people.

The fact that leftists attack cops, the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect us from the leftists besties, makes the situation even worse.

If you want a return to the massively high crime rates of the past and to not being able to walk to the store at night to buy some bread then by all means vote Democrat.

But if you want your kids to be safe then vote Republican.
