Collateral damage: Democrat witness admits that there are serious issues with Hunter Biden in Ukraine

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent said the following in his testimony:

“We’ve continued to press Ukrainian officials to answer for why allege corrupt prosecutors had closed [the] case[the investigation into Burisma which paid Hunter Biden around $3.1 million],” Kent said. “We have until now got an unsatisfactory answer.”

Clearly the #FakeNews media's narrative that the Bidens are as clean as the driven snow isn't true.

Kent went on to say that he wanted the Ukrainian government to reopen the case.  Which is precisely what the Democrats are condemning Trump for doing.

Now that's a problem for the Democrats. If one of their star witnesses says that the investigation that Trump wanted is an investigation that the State Department also wants it's hard to see how Trump asking the Ukrainians to reopen it is some sort of crime.

Even better Kent raised his concerns with Joe Biden or at least his staff about the fact that Hunter Biden being paid off by the Ukrainians was bad:

“In a briefing call with…the office of the Vice President…I raised my concern that Hunter Biden’s status as a [Burisma] board member could create the perception of a conflict of interest,” Kent testified.

Kent's point was that the fact that the Bidens appeared to be taking bribes from Burisma made it hard for the State Department to pressure Ukraine to end its long running culture of corruption.

So once again Trump's asking Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden's corruption was not only in keeping with concerns raised by the State Department and ignored by Joe Biden--wonder why?--but it was in the best interests of US foreign policy vis a vis Ukraine.

Essentially Kent showed that the "crime" Democrats are accusing Trump of is looking out for the best interests of the US.
