Joe Biden then: Believe all women Joe Biden now: Except when they're lying

Back when Justice Kavanaugh was being accused by a women who had never mentioned is supposed attack until he was mentioned as a Supreme Court candidate, who couldn't remember when or where the alleged assault occurred, and whose life long female friend who was supposedly at the party where the assault occurred said no such party ever happened Joe Biden said this:

For a woman to come forward in the glaring lights of focus, nationally, you’ve got to start off with the presumption that at least the essence of what she’s talking about is real, whether or not she forgets facts.

However now that Tara Reade has come forth and accused Biden of sexually assaulting her Biden has changed his tune. It's no longer true that we should assume that a woman would never lie about being assaulted. Rather the woman is due an investigation.

Biden went on to say that her charges have been refuted while simultaneously refusing to allow his records from the time, which could contain notes by at least on of his staffers that Reade says she talked to, to be searched.

Biden's claim that the charges have been disproven is based on these points:

1) So far no evidence of the complaint that Reade said she filed has turned up

2) He, Biden, and his staff say that they don't remember anything

3) There are inconsistencies in Reade's stories.

4) The alleged event occurred so long ago

1 and 3 are related. Back when Kavanaugh was being roasted Biden said that we should presume the woman is telling the truth "“whether or not she forgets the facts.”. Clearly Joe has one standard for Republicans and another for himself.

Point 2 depends on our belief that Joe and his staff would never lie to protect Joe.  Given we know Joe lied about the whole Ukraine affair and that he's a politician pretty much torpedoes that point.

Given that the alleged incident involving Kavanaugh also occurred at about the same time as the one involving Biden arguing that since happened a long time ago it can't be true is absurd.

More importantly several witnesses have come forward and stated that Reade told them about the assault when it happened; 27 years ago. 

In the case of the woman who accused Kavanaugh, Blasey Ford, she told no one about the alleged event until Kavanaugh's name came up as a possible Supreme Court nominee.

Further there were no credible charges by any other woman about Kavanaugh ill treating women while 8 other women have come forward alleging Biden sexually harassed them via inappropriate touching or verbal exchanges.  

We can't know if Biden is guilty. But we can know that he is covering up by refusing to allow his records to be searched and that he's changed his definition of how women who allege sexual assaults should be treated.

If he gets away with this it will basically return us to the open season on women for Democrats that marked the Clinton administration.
