“The case was reported by the girl’s mother, alleging that her daughter had a sexual relationship with an older teenager, which constituted statutory rape,” a spokesman for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez’s office said.
“Accordingly, we did not request bail for this nonviolent felony that allegedly took place a year-and-a-half ago.”
Ignoring for the moment that the perpetrator is an illegal alien this must read like Christmas coming early for child molesters.
Rape a 13 year old and be released without bail. Now that's "progressive"; as in morally bankrupt.
The reason it's statutory rape is that sane people know that 13 year olds aren't mature enough to decide whether or not to have sex. They can't vote, they can't be in the military, they can't drive, and heck they can't even smoke weed where it's legal but the DA appears to be saying that they can intelligently decide when to have sex.
The Assistant DA Jordan Rossman described the victim as the "defendant's ex-girlfriend".
Listening to these folks it would appear that the only bad person is the mother who wanted to defend her daughter from a sexual predator.
Fortunately the judge isn't completely in the pocket of molesters. She said:
The judge was also surprised to learn that the police hadn't contacted the city's Administration for Children's Services.
Clearly the Democrats running New York are more concerned about protecting illegal aliens who molest children than they are about protecting children.
