COVID-19; there is no need to panic

If you're under 50 the COVID-19 virus is nothing to panic about.

If you're over 50 it's a cause of concern but your odds of dying from it are very small.

Given that the vast majority of people with it won't die society will not collapse.

Your tap water will keep flowing and your lights will stay on.

It's not a zombie apocalypse, the Black Plague 2.0, or Ebola.

Everyone should take reasonable precautions, especially folks over 50 or those with pre-existing conditions.

But that's true every year when the flu season hits.

In China new infections per day are down from 4000 to 20.  Which means that the disease can be contained.

There haven't been any outbreaks in warm countries so odds are that when the summer hits the Northern Hemisphere the outbreak will die down giving us months to produce a vaccine and possibly find a cure.

Trump is doing what any good President should do; he's stating the facts but pointing out that we shouldn't panic.  As FDR said, back when Democrat politicians actually loved America, all we have to fear is fear itself.

Panic doesn't do anyone any good. It doesn't reduce the chances we'll get sick but it does increase the suffering of Americans overall.

On the plus side this outbreak is helping us remember that we're all going to die and that the hedonistic selfish lifestyle pushed by modern elites is not something that we'll take happily to our graves.

We should all pray that the epidemic ends and that the victims pull through but we should also get our own houses in order since as Scripture says we never know when our lives will end.
