That included $25M for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Yet despite that massive infusion of your hard earned dollars the Center just laid off its entire orchestra and all its librarians.
It would be interesting to know if the bosses at the Kennedy aren't being paid either.
In typical leftist fashion, the laws only apply to others, it turns out that the Center's actions are in violation of their contract with the union.
The union leader who represents the musicians said:
"This decision, from an organization with an endowment of nearly $100 million, is not only outrageous — coming after the musicians had expressed their willingness to discuss ways to accommodate the Kennedy Center during this challenging time — it is also blatantly illegal under the parties' collective bargaining agreement. That agreement specifically requires that the Center provide six weeks' notice before it can stop paying musicians for economic reasons,"
The purported rationale for the pork for Kennedy was:
So since that's not happening was the real intent to just protect the bosses who probably give lots of money to Democrat politicians?
Clearly something is wrong. Is it simple incompetence by the folks who run the Kennedy--they can't do math?-- or is it that they want to increase the center's endowment at the expense of the musicians and librarians? Who knows.
One thing is clear that this is an early example of how the port Democrat politicians ask for won't end up helping hard working Americans.
