Even though the left is attacking Trump for not retaliating against Iran if he had struck they'd have attacked him for that citing it as evidence of why he can't be trusted to be President.
By telling the world day after day that Trump is untrustworthy the #FakeNews media are making it hard for Trump to establish a coalition to take on Iran's increasing belligerency.
The good news is that Trump's decision to support a proportionate response was the right one; at least until Tehran kills an American.
The Europeans whose lust for money always overcomes their interest in peace are feverishly working to short circuit Trump's new sanctions on Iran. The fact that Trump eschewed a lethal response will make it harder for the Europeans to peddle the lie that Iran is the good guy and Trump is the bad guy.
I wanted an armed but limited response. But after thinking about it for awhile I realized this is similar to why we shouldn't shoot robbers who are fleeing our house. It took me a long time to appreciate that a non-violent thief doesn't deserve to die just for stealing my stuff. But that's the right position in light of what Jesus taught.
Now if the thief was armed and had tried to kill me it might be possible to make a case that shooting him was ok to keep him from coming back and trying to kill me again. But if he ran when he saw me and did nothing aggressive to me it would be wrong to risk killing him.
We can replace that drone. We don't need to kill Iranians to hurt Iran.
But now if Iran does escalate Trump has established that it's Iran that's at fault so that he'll be able to get more international support for action against Iran.
