Of course the awards are amazingly bigoted in that they proclaim that intelligence is what counts most in a person not compassion, kindness, love etc. They're basically a homage to the eugenics that motivated people like Hitler.
But they can be used as a metaphor for people who think having many children or even any children is a bad idea.
Whether you believe in evolution or God or both more babies are a good thing. From a religious perspective every baby is a new person who can love and serve God and be happy with Him forever in Heaven. From a secular perspective the only purpose we have is sending our genes into the future and that is accomplished by having babies, the more the better.
Leftists generally reject the idea of children as being a blessing and lean more towards the children as fashion accessories and/or replacements for cats. That's why the entertainment industry is constantly showing children as a burden.
Hence while people who reject the idea of children don't kill themselves they just as effectively eliminate their genes from the gene pool.
An example of that behavior is that now people are avoiding children out of misplaced compassion. The climate alarmists lies about the supposedly on-coming apocalypse has led to the creation of the BirthStrikers movement.
Members deliberately eschew having babies both because they believe that babies, but not hundreds of new coal fired power plants in China, will destroy the planet and because they believe that their children are better off never having existed than having to endure the unbearable suffering that will be the result of climate change.
We know that the whole climate change is going to kill us all meme is a joke because it's clear the professionals pushing it don't believe in it. How can we know that? No we don't have a mind reading machine--though that would be of questionable utility when dealing with leftists.
The Paris Accords are wonderful according to the professional warmists. Yet those accords allow both India and China to massively increase their CO2 production. If we are in fact on the precipice of extinction and we only have 12 years to avoid mass death then there is no way that China and India increasing their CO2 production by leaps and bounds could be acceptable.
Yet the warmists are cool with China and India going peddle to the metal on CO2 production.
Hence warmists really don't believe in an oncoming armageddon.
But the lies warmists constantly spew and which the #FakeNews media constantly repeats have convinced these poor deluded BirthStrikers to not have children.
If conservatives valued human life as little as the folks behind the Darwin awards do it'd be tempting to view this as a good thing. Given that the vast majority, if not all, the BirthStrikers are leftists perhaps, a deluded conservative might ponder, humanity will be better off without their progeny.
But that's not the case. God loves all of us, even leftists, and we weren't not loving others as God calls us to if we rejoice in others not having children.
Interestingly that's linked to the second reason that the BirthStrikers are wrong. The reality is that every human life has value. While leftists say that any life that lacks the luxuries of modern Western civilization isn't worth living the reality is that the poor in Africa are often happier than the rich in New York City.
So no matter how bad life could be after the environmental apocalypse it's not going to be any worse than life in the slums of New Delhi. If someone goes to the worst slums in the world and asks people if they'd be better of either being killed right then and there or never having been born at all they'd laugh; happiness doesn't require a lack of hardships and a smart phone.
While the BirthStriker movement is an example of people deliberately taking themselves out the gene pool we should be sad not laugh at them because every human life is a blessing.
