With that sort of resume and his eagerness to attack Republicans he was a shoo in to get a job at CNN--the Clinton News Network.
Apparently he's spent enough time attacking Republicans that the fact that he played a key role in an attempt to spy on the DNC has been forgiven by Democrats.
Even though he lost his law license, since he was convicted of a felony, the Democrats in the House thought that he'd be a great witness to talk about obstruction.
When a Republican started questioning Dean about his obvious conflict of interest, he's paid by CNN and CNN hates Trump not to mention CNN's ratings hence their income have tanked since the Mueller report came out, the Democrat chair, Nadler, stopped his questioning.
The things that Dean advanced as parallels to are clearly nothing of the sort.
Here are 6 points Dean tried to make:
1) He claimed that Trump asking, but not ordering, James Comey to not prosecute General Flynn for having "lied" to the FBI was obstruction. Well first he investigation into Flynn was over Trump's comment was about sentencing. But more importantly when Comey didn't let Flynn off the hook, even though the FBI's own records showed that the agents who stealth interviewed Flynn didn't think he was lying Trump did nothing.
Dean compares this to Nixon asking the FBI to halt the investigation into Watergate. The problem is that Trump didn't want to stop the investigation only for Comey to extend the same leniency to Flynn as Comey had just extended to Hillary.
But the really big problem is that Watergate was crime while there was no Russian collusion and it can't be obstruction to shut down an investigation into something that didn't happen. If Trump were to order the FBI to stop investigating if Hillary was guilty of conspiring with aliens it's unlikely that any Democrat would be shouting obstruction.
2) Dean claims that Trump firing Comey because Comey was lying by omission to the American people about whether or not Trump was under investigation was on par with Nixon's firing of the special prosecutor, Archibald Cox. Given that Democrats were demanding that Comey be fired for his failing to follow FBI procedure in the Hillary case if Trump's firing him was obstruction then all the Democrats are guilty of obstruction too because they egged Trump on.
Even worse once again Cox was investigating a real crime where as Comey was just lying. Further Comey's firing actually increased the effort expended by the FBI to investigate Trump and Trump didn't stop that.
3) Dean claims that Trump wanting to fire Mueller, who was a friend of Comey, but replace him with another special prosecutor without ending or restricting the remit of the investigation is obstruction. Aside from the fact that Trump knew there was no collusion and hence knew for a fact that there was no need for an investigation the problem is that Trump wasn't trying to end or modify the investigation.
Even worse even Dean admits that when Trump's advisors gave time for Trump to rethink the situation Trump didn't continue to demand that Mueller be fired.
4) According to Dean Trump trying to get Jeff Sessions to reverse his recusal so that Mueller wouldn't have a carte blanche to investigate anything--according to DOJ rules Mueller's investigation was not properly defined--was obstruction. Once again of course demanding that Mueller follow approved procedures while investigating something that didn't happen can't be obstruction.
5)Dean is saying that even though in the end Trump gave Mueller full access to everything he asked for the fact that Trump Jr. was somehow not completely forthright about his meeting with a Russian lawyer was obstruction.
To see how bogus this is note that we know for a fact that Hillary Clinton paid Russian sources for dirt on Trump and she used that "dirt" against him even though according to the Steele dossiers author the information in it was completely unverified. Yet Dean has no problem with that. But he says that Trump Jr. meeting with a Russian lawyer who lied about having dirt on Hillary is a high crime. Given that that's absurd the fact that Trump Jr. tried to prevent emails related to the meeting being released but ended up turning them over can hardly be obstruction.
6) Trump talked about but didn't use his power to pardon people. But according to Dean Trump merely mentioning that he'd be willing to pardon people who were the victim of a witch hunt--remember Trump knew there was no collusion so he knew Mueller was indicting people solely to get them to lie about Trump-- was obstruction.
The reality is that like all leftists Dean will tell any lie in order to nullify the 2016 election. Remember the Democrats who are saying that Trump obstructed justice stood by Bill Clinton when it was proven that he lied under oath and lied about lying under oath. Now if that's not obstruction it's unclear what is.
