If the investigators hadn't done anything illegal why would they feel a need to erase their phones.
Essentially Weissmann is admitting to both wrong doing and deliberately obstructing an investigation not to mention violating Federal laws on government transparency.
Ask yourself this if a bunch of Republicans investigating Joe Biden all erased their phones would you think it was perfectly reasonable? Of course not.
We've got to prosecute these people or every Democrat in the government will abuse their power to keep elected Republicans from doing the will of the people.
