Pro-choice isn't

A judge in England has ruled that a mentally retarded girl must have an abortion against her own wishes, her mother's wishes, and the recommendations of social workers.

The woman has no choice; the judge is commanding that her child be killed.

Of course for decades China had a forced abortion policy and people who called themselves "pro-choice" supported it.

While many Americans who think that abortion should be legal at least some of the time are in fact deeply saddened by it the reality is that allowing abortion to be legal isn't pro-choice it's pro-abortion.

Imagine for a moment if someone said that they weren't for slavery but that they were pro-choice and wanted it to be legal. Would anyone for even the slightest fraction of a second say that their position made sense?

Or if someone said that they didn't support the death penalty but they were pro-choice and wanted the death penalty to be legal and used.  Would anyone consider that person to be making sense?

Anyone who supports abortion being legal supports abortion; at least in the circumstances where they want it to be legal.  The pro-choice term is just a bit of Orwellian speak to cover up what supporting legal abortion means.
