The new California law says that men can choose to be incarcerated in a women's prison if they identify as a woman.
Note no doctor needs to say that the man is in fact afflicted with gender identity confusion. The man merely has to say that he self identifies as a woman.
In their wisdom the Democrats are saying that any biological man with male sex organs can, if he wants to, be incarcerated with women.
Now that's amazingly sexist. Imagine the cell mate of that guy. She weighs 100lbs and he ways 240lb and benches 300lbs.
No reason to think that that might be problematic.
As usual Democrats raise the idea that a man who seriously thinks he is a woman won't want to have sex with a woman but even that's not true. Many "transexuals" have expressed the fact that they are sexually interested in people of their "new" gender.
But the real issue is that by not requiring any verification of their psychological status by professionals any man, not just those who suffer from gender identity confusion can declare themselves to be women.
So essentially the law says that any man can, by claiming to have gender confusion, choose to have a woman for a cell mate.
Thats were the Democrats, like Governor Newsom, are these days. Ideology trumps protecting women from rape.

Ah, see the reason for this is that, in fact, there is no condition called "gender identity confusion" (nor similar terms like "gender identity disorder"). It's not in the DSM and there are no diagnostic criteria. I would've guessed someone who regularly comments on trans issues would have known... nah just kidding. Let's be real you probably don't even know what the DSM is.

See there are already "buff gay people" in jail. So rape is already something the prisons have to deal with. You are just inventing a problem to further oppress trans people.

And of course DSM-5 302.85(F64.9) Gender Dysphoria is the new term for Gender Identity Disorder. But I don't suspect you'd be aware of that. Because if you were you'd be lying when you pretended to act as though Gender Dysphoria isn't considered a mental problem.
The point which as always you ignore is that a man with who is perfectly comfortable being a man and does not think he's really a woman can say he thinks he's a woman and no doctor will be required to verify that he in fact thinks he's a woman.
Which means any man, even you, could lie about feeling he's a woman so he can be put in woman's jails.
How is trying to prevent men who aren't trans but who pretend to be from raping women oppressing trans people?

Ah, yes. I forgot you are a man of science. You can overrule leading science experts when they are psychologists, climatologists or epidemiologists. I mean the diagnostic criteria are different. Not all trans people even have gender dysphoria. Further your arguments totally ignore NB/agender/intersex people.

Uhm, of course I'm aware of this. But I never said gender dysphoria isn't a problem. It is a problem and the best known cure is transitioning. So plenty of transitioned (and even non-transitioned) trans people have no gender dysphoria.

No the point is that you, like most transphobes, have concocted an imaginary scenario which will basically never happen and have used it to try to deny rights to trans people. The transphobe scenarios virtually never happen.
Let's be real. You wouldn't support letting transwomen into female prisons even with a psych exam. Your position is both wrong and disingenuous.
The exact same arguments were made to keep gays out of the military and are being made to prevent trans people from using bathrooms.

Because that is neither the intent nor effect of your proposal. Not all trans people have gender dysphoria and the condition you wanted to test for doesn't exist. The risk you are outlining is hypothetical. There are already jurisdictions that de jure/de facto use these policies and I doubt you can find examples of your scenario taking place.
Imagine sending a fully transitioned trans woman to a male-only jail because she can't convince a shrink she has dysphoria. That is putting a woman at risk and these scenarios are real.
