Isaiah, the cute kid in the picture, was attending an art class via distance learning when he waved a toy gun across the screen.
The gun is has a bright green top and couldn't possibly be confused with a real gun.
Image from Isaiah's family via BuzzfeedFurther Isaiah suffers from ADHD to the extent that he has an IEP--Individualized Education Program-- so his being less than perfectly centered shouldn't have been a surprise to the teacher.
None the less the teacher ratted on Isaiah to the school's vice principle. I say ratted because there is no indication that Isaiah threatened the teacher with the toy gun so any teacher who knows boys knows that there was no reason to report his behavior especially without first having talked to his parents.
The Vice Principle, showing why should never ever have power over other people, called the police and had them conduct a health and wellness check on Isaiah.
It's unclear how Isaiah having a nice toy gun indicated that his parents were somehow neglecting him.
Further the police came after both the teacher and the vice principle agreed that the item in question was in fact a toy gun.
Fortunately the police, presumably because they're rational, didn't take Isaiah away from his parents.
However he was suspended. Here's what the suspension document said:
“violation of district or building policies or procedures” and “behavior on or off school property which is detrimental to the welfare, safety, or morals of other pupils or school personnel.”
“Isaiah displayed and waved a firearm facsimile during a virtual classroom on Aug. 27, 2020,”
This is why leftists should never be allowed to have any say on gun control. Real guns don't have orange plugs in the front and they aren't bright green. That the school is incapable of differentiations between a facsimile of a gun and a toy speaks volumes about the left's ignorance of the very things they strive to demonize.
One of two things happened in this case. Either the school has an insane policy about what kids can do at home or there was a racist presumption that a Black kid with a toy gun must in fact have real guns lying around the house.
Clearly something is wrong in Democrat run Colorado Springs.

Oh, come on! There's more than a little wrong with nearly EVERY Democratic-run city.

Er, just a few sentences earlier you admitted they knew it was a toy. The law in Wisconsin (i'm too lazy to find the Colorado law) states that
> “facsimile firearm" means any replica, toy, starter pistol or other object that bears a reasonable resemblance to or that reasonably can be perceived to be an actual firearm
So it seems they correctly identified the object as a "facsimile firearm" since toy guns are not excluded.

Or they have a policy about what they can do at school and school is now remote.
