China asked the NBA to fire Daryl Morey for standing for freedom

Either the NBA isn't entirely spineless or they've realized that appearing to be stooges for the repressive mass murdering Chinese communist regime isn't a winning optic because even though China asked, and it's more likely that they demanded, that the NBA fire Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey over his support for freedom in Hong Kong the NBA isn't even going to punish him.

When looking at this whole incident it's important to remember that the same regime that is ruling China with an iron fist today and which has put over a million minorities into real concentration camps didn't hesitate to kill thousands of protesters for freedom in Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Which makes this incident a valuable teaching tool.  So many insanely rich people who have been howling about social justice and condemning America are suddenly defending fascist oppression in China because standing for freedom could cost them money.

Take LeBron James.  The man has more money than he knows what to do with.  If the NBA's income from China goes down LeBron will still able to buy anything he wants.  Yet instead of using the same vitriol he uses against Americans he actually defended the Communist tyrants.

It's too bad that Silver is whining about the money the league is losing.  He and the owners should be saying that they too condemn China's oppression of the people of Hong Kong and the mass concentration camps where Muslim minorities are being "reeducated".

If the whole world says enough and makes China pay a financial price for oppression then perhaps we can see the regime soften it's iron grip on over a billion people who are yearning to breathe free.
