The reality is that what happens is that when police arrest an illegal immigrant for say rape ICE issues a request that they hold the guy until ICE can take him into custody. In a "sanctuary" city the cops will release the rapist on bail so that he can go out and rape again and they won't notify ICE.
Essentially what "sanctuary" cities do is ensure that illegal immigrants who rape, drive drunk, assault people, etc can be let out to prey on Americans, or often on other illegal immigrants, instead of being kept in custody by ICE.
The only people who benefit from this are criminals, like these, and the victims of this are Americans and illegal immigrants who are attacked by the men "sanctuary" cities let free.
