"Gaffes" vs lies; all you need to know about #FakeNews

When Democrat Joe Biden says something that would earn Trump a weeks long condemnation for lying or being insane the #FakeNews media calls it a gaffe and imply that it's nothing.

Here are some of Biden's "gaffes"; imagine what would happen if Trump did the same thing:

1) In 2010 at a White House St Patrick's Day celebration Biden mourned the death of the Irish Prime Minister's mother who was still alive.

2)In 2009 Biden said that people shouldn't fly in airplanes because they could catch Swine Flu.

3)He asked a man confined to a wheelchair to stand up in 2008

4) He said this about Obama: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." in 2007

5) He said "In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking." in 2006

6) He plagiarized a speech by Neil Kinnock the leader of the British Labor Party.

7) He said "We need family separation" in the context of illegal immigration

8) Talking about Russian election interference he said “Look at what’s happening with Putin. While he — while Putin is trying to undo our elections, he is undoing elections in Europe. Look what’s happening in Hungary. Look what’s happening in Poland. Look what’s happening. Do you think that would happen on my watch or Barack’s watch? You can’t answer that, but I promise you, it wouldn’t have, and it didn’t.” even though all those things did happen when Obama was president.

9) He said “Ban all the guns. Except guns nobody wants to buy.”

10) He commended the civility of segregationists he worked with in Congress. Imagine for a moment if Trump commended the civility of white nationalists.

11) He got the city wrong for the El Paso shooting and the state wrong for the Ohio shooting.

12) He said “Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.” seems rather racist especially given how much Biden talks about how nice segregationists were.

13) He said ”Those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” which is odd give that Parkland occurred after he left office.

14) He said “We choose science over fiction. We choose truth over facts.”.  This may not be a gaffe; it may be that he like his fellow Democrats choose "their truth" over facts.

15) He said ”Just like in my generation, when I got out of school, when Bobby Kennedy and Dr. King had been assassinated in the ’70s — the late ’70s — I got engaged.”.  Both Kennedy and King were killed in 1968

Now some of these aren't that bad; getting the year Bobby Kennedy was killed wrong does not make one unfit to be President. But when Trump makes similar mistakes the #FakeNews media are all over him declaring him to be a liar or mentally unfit to serve.

But a lot of Biden's "gaffes" are actually very serious. Many of them, like his comment about poor kids being as smart as white kids and his description of Obama as articulate, seem to reveal a man who is fundamentally racist; a man who assumes poor people are Black and that articulate Blacks are rare.

His comments about Indian Americans in Delaware are also more indicative of a white nationalist than an inclusive post racist American.

The key take away from this isn't that Biden is either a racist or likely to make huge mistakes if he ever becomes President but that we can't trust the #FakeNews media because they will lie through their teeth to minimize the significance of Biden's "gaffes" while simultaneously vilifying Trump for far less serious errors.

In fact the #FakeNews media will even make up verbal mistakes by Trump such as their claim that he was commending Poland on being invaded when in fact he was commending them for their heroic 6 year war against the Nazis.
