Why you can't trust the #FakeNews media: Meet the Press deceptively edited a video of AG Barr

Chuck Todd either deliberately used a deceptively edited clip of Attorney General Barr's comment to attack Barr or he was mislead by his staff in doing so.

In the edited clip Barr was asked how history would judge the DOJ's decision to drop the charges against Flynn and he said:

"Well, history is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who's writing the history."

Todd then attacked Barr based on that clip saying:

"[he, Todd, was]struck by the cynicism of the answer -- it's a correct answer, but he's the attorney general. He didn't make the case that he was upholding the rule of law. He was almost admitting that, yeah, this was a political job."

The only problem is that the instant after the deceptively edited clip ended Barr said:

"I think a fair history would say it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law," Barr said. "It upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice."

Todd excised the part of Barr's comment that was serious and only kept the starting joke and then he attacked Barr because the joke wasn't a serious answer.

You can't get much more dishonest than that.

NBC has admitted in a tweet that the video was deceptively edited.  The tweet said:

"You’re correct. Earlier today, we inadvertently and inaccurately cut short a video clip of an interview with AG Barr before offering commentary and analysis. The remaining clip included important remarks from the attorney general that we missed, and we regret the error."

However neither NBC nor Chuck Todd have said that there will be an on air correction.

That would be rather embarrassing for Todd since his entire point only made sense due to his deliberately misedited clip.  To apologize on air Todd would have to either admit he was hoodwinked by his staff or that he deliberately faked the video in order to attack Barr.

What makes this even more amazing is that I don't recall Chuck Todd attacking AG Holder when he said he was Obama's wingman.  Now that's evidence of a Holder viewing his role as political.
