Mueller loses a big one: DOJ dropping charges against General Flynn

General Flynns prosecution never had anything to do with the whole Russian collusion narrative since his "crime" was that he allegedly lied to the FBI about what he'd discussed with a Russian diplomat.

That could sound bad except for the fact as Trump's national security advisor it would be odd if Flynn   wasn't talking to Russians as part of the transition between the Obama and the Trump administration.

In a clearly dishonest effort the DOJ was investigating Flynn for violating the Logan Act of 1799. That law says that private citizens can't get involved in US foreign policy.  Given that John Kerry has publicly talked to Iran when he was a private citizen and wasn't prosecuted it's clear that Flynn was targeted for his proximity to Trump.

We now know that even that bogus investigation found nothing and that the FBI resorted to trying to get Flynn to lie in order to entrap him.  That DOJ charged Flynn even though the agents who interrogated Flynn--without telling him he was being investigated--said that they didn't think he lied; presumably he just forgot something.

In order to get Flynn to plead guilty the dishonest Deep State forced Flynn to go nearly bankrupt paying lawyers and when that didn't work they threatened to prosecute his son.

We also now know that the prosecutor deliberately concealed evidence that could show that Flynn was innocent was hidden from him and from the court.

Hence it's not really a big surprise that according to AP the DOJ is dropping its jihad against Flynn.

This is a big deal for Mueller because despite the fact that what Flynn forgot had nothing to do with colluding with Russia Flynn was the only significant conviction that resulted from Mueller's $32 million witch hunt.
