Croissants at LaGuardia are going for SEVEN DOLLARS A PIECE 😱— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 1, 2019
Yet some people think getting a whole hour of personal, dedicated human labor for $15 is too expensive??
There are several problems with her comment. First the minimum wage at the airport is already $15 an hour; which is insanely high for dropping a pastry into a bag. Even worse the minimum wage for many airport workers will be going up to $19 an hour in the near future.
Second it turns out that if you actually don't spend money like a drunken sailor you can find a croissant at the airport for $3.29.
So either Ocasio-Cortez knew the truth and lied or she just got panic stricken without knowing the facts.
Odds are that she was just spouting off about something she knows nothing about rather than that she was deliberately lying.
Of course the fact that she didn't take being corrected too well tends to indicate that honesty isn't her strong suite. Instead of saying "oops my bad" or being silent she attacked Republicans for taking her tweet seriously.
Most amazingly of all Ocasio-Cortez tweeted:
GOP taking every tweet so earnestly, making my point for me. It’s not an argument against the price of a croissant - it’s about the value of human worth.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 1, 2019
But I guess that idea is foreign to them since their policies treat people as disposable anyway 🤷🏽♀️
Given that she support abortion through when the mother is giving birth for her to say that Republicans treat people as disposable is patently absurd.
