The Welfare state and diversity don't mix

It turns out that social scientists who have studied the issue can show that the more ethnically diverse a community the less likely people are to trust each other and the less likely they are to support a welfare state.

This creates a problem for the Democrats desire to massively pluralize our society by brining in untold numbers of immigrants and encouraging those immigrants to not assimilate.

This isn't surprising; ghetto's form because people of all races and ethnicities tend to feel more comfortable around people who are like them.  It's not because they hate people who aren't like them but because they feel more at home with people who share a culture with them.

That's the great benefit of the traditional American melting pot; while one's home life might carry the marks of your ethnicity everyone can speak English and adheres to a common public culture.

By destroying that Democrats hope to win elections by Balkanizing America but a Balkanized American is far less likely to support massive welfare programs than a unified America where everyone views everyone else as effectively being similar to themselves in at least their public culture.
