The left rejects the Golden Rule

The Golden Rule is that we should treat others as we would want to be treated; or as Jesus put it we should love others as we love ourselves.

Even atheists accept the Golden Rule as being a strong basis for an acceptable morality. After all if we treat others worse than we treat ourselves we're obviously being selfish which is generally considered to be a bad thing.

However the left has abandoned the Golden Rule in a number of cases including:

• Each year in Chicago thousands of Blacks are shot; given that the Democrats who run Chicago certainly wouldn't like to be shot themselves the fact that they aren't doing anything to end the carnage is a violation of the Golden Rule.
• According to science every abortion kills a human being; given that those who support abortion obviously wouldn't have liked it if they were aborted, i.e. they wouldn't have wanted to be aborted, they're breaking the Golden Rule by supporting the abortion of others.
• During the Kavanaugh hearings the left declared that every accusation aimed at him must be true but we know-- based on the behavior of Democrats who have been similarly accused, like Sherrod Brown--that when they are accused they don't want the accusers to believed which means they're violating the Golden Rule.
• Leftists want their children to get a good education but they violate the Golden Rule by refusing to do anything to improve inner city schools.
• Leftists are comfortable with leftist mobs driving Republicans out of public settings and with the use of actual violence, by groups like Antifa, to silence speech they don't like but they then turn around and condemn conservatives for far less egregious violations, like talking with vigor at town hall meetings, which is a clear violation of the Golden Rule.
• The same leftist government organization in Colorado that demanded that a Christian bake a cake for a gay wedding said that a gay baker didn't have to bake a cake with a reference to a Bible verse that condemned active homosexuality which is a clear violation of the Golden Rule.
• The left said that Hillary's egregious misuse of classified data was ok, the law didn't really apply to her, while also being comfortable with a sailor getting prison time for taking some pictures he shouldn't have which clearly violates the Golden Rule by saying that the laws don't apply to everyone equally.
• The left is comfortable with dishonest judges making up laws that couldn't get approved by Congress while being incensed because Trump has ensured that the majority on the Supreme Court would be honest interpreters of the law; essentially the left is saying that they an impose their beliefs on America via judicial fiat while Republicans can't even just say that we should follow the Constitution.

The list could go on and on however these few examples demonstrate that the modern left does not believe that it has any obligation to treat others as it wishes to be treated. Which in turn tells us that the left rejects what is considered by most people, even those who lack faith, as the bedrock of a coherent morality.

Once a group decides that they should be treated well but it's ok for them to treat others poorly that group is no longer in a position to have political power since they believe it's fine to use that power to oppress others.
