Another example of white liberals hurting Blacks

The woke leftists have been campaigning to "ban the box"; namely the check box on application forms that identifies if the applicant has a criminal record.

From Obama on down the left has been telling us that asking this question hurts Blacks. Apparently caring about employers is not something that resides among the left's priorities.

Well now we know that this policy hurts blacks.

It's a simple scientific fact that Blacks are more likely to commit crimes than whites.  It's also a simple scientific fact that the vast majority of Blacks are not criminals.  Basically only a small fraction of the population consists of criminals and while the percentage is higher for Blacks it's still small.

What happens though is that if a company can't ask if someone has a criminal record law abiding Blacks are put on a "level" playing field with criminal Blacks.  Not surprisingly employers will sometimes reduce their risk by simply avoiding hiring Blacks that they would hire if they knew that those Blacks were not criminals.

There are real studies that show that Blacks suffer because of the ban the box campaign.

That doesn't prove that leftists are racists.  What proves the left is racist is that even though those studies are out the left hasn't changed its position on the issue.  They'd rather see Blacks suffer than admit that their ivory tower musings are wrong.
