Carter Page was never charged with anything

Democrats are saying that the massive spying campaign against the Trump campaign, using Carter Page as a pretext, was justified.

Yet after having the powers of the FBI and the entire Intelligence Community(IC) focused on him for more than year the indictment crazy FBI, who indicted Flynn for lying when the agents who ambushed him said they didn't think he was lying, didn't charge him with anything.

That's fairly strong evidence that whatever they were claiming was sufficient cause to spy on him wasn't in fact remotely credible.

The FBI not only spied on Page but they lied to the FISA court about the fact that Page had actually been a government informant when, on a previous occasion, Russians had approached him.

Clearly telling the court that the guy you're accusing of colluding with Russia had previously freely cooperated when he had been approached by Russians, and helped put one of those Russians in jail, would tend to reduce the chances the court would let the FBI use the IC to spy on him.  So the FBI altered an email to say that Page hadn't cooperated and that they gave to the court.

None of that makes sense; why would the FBI do something so egregiously illegal to get a random nobody?

But if the target was always Trump and if the motivation was the highly biased FBI senior leaderships desire to first keep Trump from winning in 2016 and then, once he won, to nullify the 2016 election it makes perfect sense.
