Is Trump responsible for the attack on the Saudi oil refineries?

Just a week after Trump fired Bolton the Iranians apparently launched a massive drone strike on Saudi Arabia that temporarily took out nearly 5% of the worlds oil production.

Could it be that the lying #FakeNews media convinced the tyrants running Iran that Trump was rejecting any sort of military retaliation against Iran no matter what they did?

After all we know for a fact that Osama bin Laden thought that the US would not retaliate for 9/11 because Bill Clinton cut and ran from Somalia after the fight we remember as Blackhawk Down.  American weakness convinced Osama that the US was a paper tiger.

Of course Trump has every right to fire anyone who works for him and it's quite possible that Bolton was too enthused about overseas conflict.

What many modern beltway conservatives don't understand is that despite the fact that WWII and the Cold War showed that in order to protect the US we need to engage our enemies in their own backyard the vast majority of Americans are just as isolationist as they were before WWII.

Americans are only willing to shed American blood in order to protect America.  That can lead to problems; if the US had supported Britain and France when Germany invaded Poland there's a good chance that Hitler could have been removed as a threat 6 years early.  But the reality is that the people won't support overseas conflicts that don't directly benefit the US or right a wrong.  Americans supported the first Gulf War because they didn't like big Iraq conquering tiny Kuwait for example.

Clearly Trump isn't responsible for the Iranian action but it shows how our enemies will pounce if they sense any weakness.  Which is why having a Democrat president would be disastrous.
