Democrats only represent their rich urban base no matter where they're elected

Historically Republicans and Democrats haven't been monolithic blocks.

Back in the 1960s a big chunk of Democrats opposed the civil rights act of 1964 while some supported it.

Today we saw that there were Republicans who could have voted against Kavanaugh and of course John McCain torpedoed the elimination of Obamacare.

But we also saw that today the Democrats do vote as a monolithic block.  Before Trump even announced his candidate for the Supreme Court everyone--Republican, Democrat, and the media--said that every Democrat would vote against Trump's candidate unless their vote didn't matter.

Only after it was clear that Kavanaugh would be approved did the Democrats allow one Democrat Senator to vote for him because that Senator was in a tough reelection fight in a state that had gone for Trump.

Which is to say that the only reason the Democrats allowed that candidate to vote against the Democrat block was to effectively lie to his constituents about his "independence" and his "conservative" credentials.

The natural consequence of all Democrats voting with the party is that effectively anyone who has a Democrat Congressman or Senator who doesn't live in New York or California isn't represented at all.

The reason that parties didn't use to vote monolithically was that if politicians represent their people they will differ in what they support because the folks in San Francisco have different priorities and concerns than the people in Boise.  That means that an honest Democrat politician who represents Boise will vote differently than an honest Democrat politician who represents San Francisco.

But if all Democrats vote lockstep with their radical leadership Democrats elected in moderate parts of the country don't vote for the interests of their people.  Which in turn means that if you live in any place other than the rich urban Democrat areas your Democrat politician won't represent you; instead they'll vote based on what the urban Democrat base wants.

Essentially every Democrat candidate is nothing more than a clone of Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer no matter what lies they spew while they're campaigning.  Since every Democrat will vote as his party instructs him to and we know that the Democrat agenda is designed to support their urban base voting for a Democrat is basically handing more power to people who aren't you.

So long as we can be sure that Democrats will vote as commanded it's not smart to vote for any Democrat no matter what they claim to believe in unless you agree with the agenda that Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer will push.

UPDATE: Nancy Pelosi has stated that Democrat party values are San Francisco values; i.e. the entire  Democrat agenda is based on what rich urban Democrats want.  Thanks for confirming what I'd written Nancy!
