Scientists are people and you shouldn't trust them on political issues

Scientists are just as human as the rest of us. Some of them will lie or distort data in order to further their personal or political agenda.

There are numerous examples of that in the recent past:

1) Nuclear Winter: Carl Sagan said that defending the US against Soviet nuclear weapons was a waste because even a very tiny Soviet nuclear strike would kill all humanity.  Scientists knew that was incorrect but said nothing since they agreed with Sagan that it was the US that was the problem not the totalitarian Soviet regime.

2) Being gay is normal: A group of gay psychologists got same sex attraction defined as normal and healthy. Problem is that if we ignore religion then our only purpose in life is to send our genes to the future.  But gays most certainly can't do that so, from a purely secular, perspective they have a problem.  Also the massively promiscuous lifestyle is really bad for people's health--if you disagree then start arguing for a massive cut in funding for AIDS related research.

3) People can change their sex: Our sex is defined by our DNA. No amount of plastic surgery or drugs will change that.  But scientists tell us that in fact a man can simply wish himself into a woman.

4) Global Warming...err Climate Change: Climate is always changing and we expect to see rising temperatures because we're coming out of a minor ice age.  In fact our current world temperatures are lower than average.  Yet scientists, who get a huge amount of grant money for saying so, are telling us that human activity is causing the warming.  The problem is that the models that the scientists have made don't match the observational data and hence are wrong.  To know that the scientists don't believe what they're saying just note that they're cool with India and China massively increasing their CO2 production.

While most scientists are honest the simple reality is that when an issue is ideologically or financially important to them some of them will lie.

Leftists admit this because they constantly tell us that studies funded by drug companies or oil companies are untrustworthy because the scientists are tainted by their funding source.  But somehow climate scientists whose grant money has increased by huge amounts since they started to warn us about global catastrophe are immune to any corruption due to money.

If a scientist tells you that they've found a new subatomic particle you can trust her. If a scientist tells you there is no God or that mankind is destroying the planet you should assume they're wrong.
