We see this in the private sector when left wing CEOs use publicly owned companies to advance their own leftist agenda at the expense of corporate profits--ie at the expense of the working stiffs who own stock in the company.
The latest example is Gillette. The company counts men as a key, if not the key, customer base yet Gillette has now launched an assault on "toxic masculinity".
"Toxic Masculinity" is left wing speak for being a real man; i.e. strong, proactive, protective of one's family, hard working, competitive. In society we find that it's leftist men who tend to exploit women and are the cause of the #MeToo movement but in the alt reality of the left it's the men who marry women, rather than hook up with them, and who stay married to the same women who are the problem.
As such what Gillette has done is spit in the face of all real men to pander to the effeminate leftists men and the extremist feminists.
That can't be good for Gillette's bottom line yet the company is doing it no matter what the impact is to the people who own Gillette's stock.
You'd think that honest CEOs would realize that using a company they lead but don't own for their own personal advantage is wrong. But just as left wing voters and politicians think they're being philanthropic when they raise taxes on other people these dishonest CEOs are only concerned with getting their way so that they can feel good about themselves.
If Gillette really cared about women it would have funded women's shelters and attacked only those men who abuse women; not all men, not the basic nature of men.
By wasting stock holders money on a virtue signaling gesture that will hurt sales and not help women Gillette is demonstrating modern leftism in practice.
