Yet she was planning a week long foreign trip which would have ensured that the poor government workers who aren't getting paid would miss another paycheck.
While Trump stayed in DC over Christmas eager to negotiate a solution many Democrats went away. Now instead of negotiating non-stop Pelosi was planning a week long overseas trip. Supposedly to thank the troops but if the shutdown is the massive problem Pelosi keeps saying it is clearly she could have visited the troops later.
The reality is that either Pelosi is knowingly lying about the impact of the shutdown or she believes it's horrible but doesn't care. The 800,000 government workers who aren't getting paid are mostly Democrats yet Pelosi not only refuses to compromise on the wall she didn't even plan to try and negotiate a solution.
While the Democrats are saying the wall is immoral that's an obvious lie. Any real refugee who is truly fleeing for their life can request asylum at 10 locations in Mexico and at any legal border crossing site. Real refugees never need to risk their lives, and their children's lives, by sneaking through the desert to get to the US.
Hence the only people the wall will stop are illegals who want to come to the US to make more money and/or collect US welfare benefits.
If Pelosi and her fellow Democrats cared about Americans and really believed the shutdown was bad they'd give Trump his puny $5B--less than 1/3 of the increase to foreign aid the Democrat House is proposing--and end the whole thing.
Therefore either the Democrats don't think the shutdown is a big deal or they're willing to make American's suffer so that illegals can have an easier time sneaking into America. Either way it's clear that the first priority of the Democrats is increasing their power and the well being of Americans is not something they care about.
