They point out that private companies have the right to discriminate to their hearts content and in that they're right.
However the situation today is similar to that if AT&T had prevented people whose messages they didn't like from using a phone back when AT&T had a monopoly on phone service.
While it might change at the moment FB and Twitter are effectively public services and enjoy are de facto monopolies.
Therefore it's clearly wrong to say that they can censor any voices that they don't like using any criteria they happen to come up with.
Further these sites say that they are not publishers but neutral platforms. They have to say that because if they do in fact control content then they are open to lawsuits if content they control, either by omission or commission, is libelous or incites people to commit crimes.
They can't have it both ways; they can't be neutral platforms while they reject certain content. If they choose to be all left wing all the time then they are clearly controlling content and hence are publishers not neutral platforms.
Conservatives have two options; we can remove the protection the platforms enjoy from lawsuits and/or we can declare the platforms to be monopolies and demand that they only censor speech which is criminal; calls for violence, child pornography that sort of thing.
To say that we must just sit back and take the politicization of a what are communications monopolies is the sort of "I'd rather lose than tarnish my principles" view of the old conservatives who talked a great game but who never managed to get any of their policies enacted and who watched as the left's plan to destroy America inexorably moved forward.
It's time to stand up for what's right rather than feel good about being "pure" while watching our country be stolen away by the new fascists.
