We know that Ilhan Omar wants Israel to be destroyed.
Now we know that she thinks that "Western Imperialism" is a real thing anymore.
We also know that she's calling for "a mass movement of the working class".
Where have we heard those sort of things before? Yes pretty much every issue of Pravda the official paper of the Soviet Union.
What American talks about classes; other than teachers and students that is?
The reality is that in America social mobility is very high. People who are poor today are unlikely to be poor in 10 years for example. That mobility isn't restricted to whites; look at Justice Thomas and Ben Carson who both were born into abject poverty and yet managed to become great successes.
Western imperialism was a problem, but also a blessing, back in the last century but that time is long gone. While European colonialism wasn't perfect it did civilize countries which would have been considered to have horrible practices by modern leftists.
But now that it's over people like Ilhan invoking it are really saying that the West, which brought civilization to much of the world, is responsible for the crimes of Third World country leaders.
The West didn't make Somalia, where Ilhan comes from, a failed state. They did that on their own.
It is true that Obama made Libya a failed nation state by overthrowing its government and then walking away but it's unlikely that that's what Omar is thinking about.
The interesting thing is that it's the West, more precisely the US, that provided her shelter when her family fled Somalia and it was the US that brought her here and gave her more success than most Black Americans have. Yet her response is to condemn the US as not being good enough.
Recently Omar was the only member of the House to refuse to vote for a resolution condemning the genocide waged by Muslim Turks against Christian Armenians.
It makes one wonder just where Omar's moral compass points.
Perhaps she's cool with Muslim imperialism and views any effort by Christians or Jews to be treated fairly as "Western Imperialism".
In any case it's troubling that one of the strongest voices in the Democrat party is talking like a Soviet commissar.
